Quarter, term, and trimester presets
Choose a common structure as a starting point, then edit every grade and weight. Presets are examples only. They are never presented as your school's official formula.
This page calculates forward from known component grades. To work backward from a target and find the final score you need, use the Final Grade Calculator.
Semester grade without a final
Remove the final component or choose a two-term preset. If the included weights do not total 100%, the calculator normalizes the visible components and labels the result as a current estimate.
Custom weights and letter inputs
Custom mode supports any set of components. Letter inputs use representative percentage estimates and are less precise than exact percentages. The mapping is an example rather than a GPA conversion.
Semester grade FAQs
How is a semester grade calculated?
Multiply each component grade by its weight, add the products, and divide by the entered total weight.
What weights should I use?
Use the weights in the syllabus or official gradebook. Presets here are editable examples.
Can I calculate without a final exam?
Yes. Remove the final component or choose a preset without one.
Can I enter points or letter grades?
Enter exact percentages or visible letter estimates. Convert points to percentages with the Test Grade Calculator first.
What if the weights do not total 100%?
The result is normalized across the included weight and labeled as a current estimate.
Is semester grade the same as GPA?
No. This combines component grades and does not calculate a grade-point average.
